Timour Hall Classic Car & Bike Show

Report-back by: Tim Cruise

The day dawned bright and un-breezy (for a change!), so off I set for Timour Hall. Unfortunately both my wife and the GT6 were sick, so I had the ignominious shame of having to turn up in a plastic!

Anyway, once I'd off-loaded the banners and other paraphernalia, I quickly parked the plastic in the general parking area, well away from our beautiful Triumphs and other Classics, of which there were plenty. We had a total of 11 Triumphs on the day, including two brand-new members, Mike Billington with a red Spitfire Mk.3, and Tommy Walker with a pristine yellow Stag. There was also a late arrival by Richard Graham in his TR6 (so no pictures of his car - sorry!), and there were 340 cars in total on display on the day, representing some 20 clubs!!!

The show ran over two days, as there are now over 40 clubs involved in this event. Although I didn't attend the Saturday, I believe it went well, and some 200 cars were on display.

I believe this event will go from strength to strength. Unfortunately it will put some pressure on us as a club, as space is at a premium, and we are privileged to have a very special display area which can hold 20+ cars. Our numbers have been slowly dwindling over the last three years, and unless we can get more than 15 cars there next year, we will have to share the space with another club…

So, it's up to you, the members - are you happy to share the space, or should we keep our special enclave 'Triumphs only'?
