Back to Events Cobbs at the Bay outing by Eileen Cruise
The end of month drive to Scarborough was a fantastic outing, with wonderful scenery and hardly a raindrop to dampen the spirits of those side-screen fans who braved the threat of thunderstorms. We had a fantastic turnout for such a grey day. Dave Frew organised this outing and prepared very detailed maps for us, which unfortunately got made redundant on route.

There were 13 Triumphs and 27 members present at the venue Cobbs at the Bay. (Photos courtesy of Monika du Sautoy). Leon Levitt joined us for the first time with his white TR7. It's nice to see the new members enjoying the month-end outings with us. Some folk chose to drive directly to the breakfast venue, while most of us met at the Constantia Village shopping centre and enjoyed the drive through Constantia and past Tokai Forest. The plan was to go over Ou Kaapseweg but it was closed due to an accident and so a quick detour was made making use of Old Boyes Drive with lovely views of Muizenburg. Then there was a split in the tour when some drivers chose to go left at the roundabout in Fish Hoek while the rest of us turned right into Kommetjie Road. No-one got lost and we all found the place and had delicious breakfasts, albeit with a wait for some of them.

I don't think they were expecting so many of us all at once. Good food and pleasant conversation about our cars and whatever else comes to mind on a lazy Sunday morning, midday, early afternoon. The time flew by and all too soon it was time to leave. As we left Jill experienced some problems with her car and limped slowly out of the car park, followed by Geoff who kept an eye on her progress and hopefully they all got home safely. All in all a pleasant outing and I'm already looking forward to future Sunday drives. It's about the only time that me and my hubby get to drive these beautiful roads around the fairest cape. Unfortunately there was a down side to the outing.

There was a problem with the combined bill at the end of the breakfast and we found that we were R100 rand short! Please guys, if we eat out at restaurants where combined bills are par for the course, then make sure you pay whoever booked the venue before you leave the restaurant. Those who were there at the end all chipped in an extra R10 to cover your forgetfulness.
