Back to Events British Sports Car Tour - 13th November
It was typical British weather when we left home on the Sunday morning, overcast with some rain threatening in the distance. When I arrived at the Engen around 09h00 found quite a number of cars already there, wow!! The cars started arriving in numbers and although we expected some rain for the day, seemed not to bother too many people. After all, that was what they had in the UK and it did not stop them from enjoying their British Sports Cars.

I started with the registrations and was too glad when Nerina, Jamie and Jenny arrived to give me a hand with the registrations, as there were a number of other arrangements that I had to take care off. Gian Mani also arrived a little later and proceeded to hand out Soda King water refreshments to all the participants. Thank you Gian. We struggled to get all the cars in the truck stop, but managed to get 65 of the most beautiful cars in the country together!! For me, one of the more rare and unique cars was the Daimler. Need to get more information on it.

We left for Franschoek around 10h30 and were caught in a little rain enroute. Some cars stopped to put the hoods up, but the die-hards just continued. It was a beautiful run, up Sir Lowreys Pass, through Grabouw, over the next pass and Theewaters Kloof dam, down over the next pass down to Franschoek. I am sure that Franschoek came to a standstill as quite a number of people and tourists with cameras stood in the roads to watch as we came past. I had arranged with etv to give us some coverage on national news and the cameraman and presenter Amy Brooks were at the Riverside Restaurant to catch this spectacle on film. (We received a spot on the 19h00 news as well as the next morning's newscasts.)

What a site, to see all these cars together and everyone stood around just admiring these beauties!!! The participants then went either for lunch or picnic and all had a brilliant day!! I would also like to take this opportunity of thanking everyone involved in making this day a huge success. Looking forward to the next one already, got to get the nationals out of the way first!!
A wonderful event: more than 60 cars made the trip, despite ominous looking weather at the start:
