Panorama Wheels Show, 5th November

It was a beautiful day and we seem to be doing quite a lot of Triumphing just lately!! Mike and Nerina already parked when GP and myself arrived at the school grounds around 08h30. We soon parked all the cars, 9 in all, got the usual Triumph display boards up, walked through the show and then sat around chatting for most of the day.

Cars on display was Roger Robeck - TR2, Neil Cameron - TR5, David Frew - Spitfire MK4, Maxwell Coetsee - Spitfire MK3, Mike Napoli - Macau Replica, Nerina Napoli - Devin, Neil Draycott - TR7, Nicky Booysen - TR7 FHC, Gerhard Vorster - TR7v8. I asked Roger to enter his TR2 in the competition for the "most desirable car", and as his Jaguar was also entered, I volunteered to drive the TR2 with Maxwell Coetsee as navigator. An honour indeed and after waiting for way too long, were not surprised that the TR2 walked away with the honours as the "Best car on the show". Another accolade for Roger's TR2 and congratulations and photo shoots were in order.

There were lots of spectators, but the numbers of cars seems to decline every year and think that the organisers will have to think of another format as they expect the classic car owners to be at the site before 09h00 and are only allowed to leave after 16h00. This makes for a long day in the sun. Nedbank sponsors the day and donate an amount of R10 000.00 towards the Multi Motor Club and this helps us to keep the member's subscriptions down!!
