Whales & Wheels Motor Show, Hermanus - September 24th

30% chance of rain forecast for the day did not daunt six stalwart TR owners (yes only TR's! )and five set out from the Engen 1 Stop with the sixth joining on the way After a pleasant journey that was uneventful, the outskirts of Hermanus were reached as well as a traffic hold up which caused us to arrive at the venue somewhat later than planned. Not too late, however, for Gian Mani to take part in the parade through the town.

It was the day of the odd (numbered) TR's, Gian and Bob in their 3A's, Neil and Peter in their 5's and Tinus and Leon in their 7's.Tinus is now the proud owner of what used to be Des Rudolph's concours winning car and it is still looking good. Leon Levitt recently acquired the TR7 and is a potential new member.

The weather held out in spite of the forecast and after a warm sunny day those who returned to the Cape got home in the dry, although those who stayed over to enjoy the rest of the weekend in Hermanus may not have been so lucky on their return journey. No prizes for Triumph this time but those of us who were there had a thoroughly enjoyable day out and a pleasant drive in our Triumphs, which is what our club is all about.

For the record, awards of interest included: Best Club Display to Citroen (with a little help from the agents no doubt) and Best Sports Car, well deserved by a very beautiful Austen Haeley 3000, also The Rarest car on Show was a fifties model Protea, the road going version unlike our chairnan's one-off racing model and not nearly as good looking.
