REPORT BACK: Charles Murray Memorial Track Day

So for a change, the weather during the Charles Murray Memorial day at Killarney could only be described as 'perfect'. It got off to a bit of a late start and it was after 11:00 before the first cars left the pits, but there were honestly a lot of cars to 'scrutineer' during the morning.

The Alfas and Subarus were there in their multitudes as usual, with a Marcos Mantara, Audi S3, Tim's TR3 and my Spitfire thrown in for some variety (and of course, Peter Gough's Porsche 911 was hurtling around the track as well). The Subarus were allowed to mix it by themselves and Tim and I went out with the Alfas.

Actually, the day was quite uneventful (although not boring!), due to the excellent organisation of the guys from the Alfa club, and save for a sloppy fan belt on Tim's TR3 which was quickly put right, we both managed quite a few laps together during the day - I'm sure Tim was just being nice, but it seemed the Spitty and the 3 were nicely matched. We both got a bit of feedback about how good it was to have some 'classics' mixing it on the track, which was nice to hear. Generally it was a great day! David Frew
