Back to Events REPORT BACK: MONTH END RUN
25th May 2005Aah, it felt good to be back in the saddle again-even if it was a plastic saddle. Sheila, our events organiser, and hubby Brian were in Plett (no doubt practicing for their forthcoming Golden Wedding Anniversary) and as always happens when Sheila is not around----it rained. Undaunted by the inclement weather a good selection of Triumphs came out to play. In fact 50% of the 12 cars in attendance were Triumphs, including Eileen flying solo in the GT6, Tim having succumbed to one of the prevalent flu strains sweeping the Cape. Bob and Gian arrived in Gian's side screen-topless nogal.
Try as they might they cannot quite crack the "rugged" title yet (see also Ronans report back on his garage noggin). Gerda used her common sense and arrived in a plastic, complete with immaculately coiffured hair-do. Not to be outdone Edith (of Des and Edith fame) also arrived in her own plastic, with an even better hair do. (Now I am very deep in the dwang, but I have to report it as I see it---sorry girls). A quick roll call, apart from those already mentioned, Geoff and Gill-TR4, Gerhard and Suzette TR7/8, Neil (the famous racing driver) and Genevieve TR5, Chris and Marion TR7. Myself and Nerina, Ken and Liz, Nic and Margaret as well as newcomers Johan and Bernie all made do with a motley assortment of plastics. Apart from Chris and Marion getting lost (poor driving, poor navigation or both? The argument rages on), the trip to Hout Bay proved uneventful.
The Outlook is fabulously positioned in the harbour and in spring/summer it must be an awesome venue. To top it all the food was reasonably priced and exceptionally nice---or was I just awfully hungry? Either way, for me, it was one of the better lunch time runs.
