REPORT BACK: Steenbras River Mouth picnic.
Gerhard Vorster.

It seems that this is going to be one of those wet years as it rained during the week and the Saturday as well. I still cleaned the car and believed that the weather would clear up as I am normally optimistic and the weatherman promised sunshine for Sunday.

We arrived first, and really thought that that was it. But then they started arriving and we ended up with 2 x TR3a, 1 x TR5, 2 x TR6, 2 x TR7, 3 x plastics and about 20 people. We arrived at the picnic spot amongst the most beautiful weather you can imagine and started preparing the skottels and other utensils for the cooking and picnic.

A real humdinger of a competition was soon in the making between "Gian - Schui Mani" and "Ronan - One Day Sanderson" as the one tried to "outcook" the other as we all looked on in amazement with what can really be done in a wok and skottel on a gas fire. Looked and smelled absolutely fantastic and the weather just kept on improving. Lots of eating and drinking and generally having a fantastic time in the open air next to the ocean. Just a pity we didn't have more members attending, but then we had fun!!
