The Triumph Sports Car Club Of South Africa
Triumph TR2 Cape Town Centre Triumph TR2

Classic Car & Bike Show, Timour Hall
Sunday 30th January 2005

We did it again!! Once again we had the largest single marque display with 22 Triumphs strutting their stuff. As best I can recall it was only the Triumph saloons that were conspicuous by their absence. Having said that, we do not have that many saloons in the Club. Other than the saloons, we had them all, TR2's, 3's, 4's, 5's, sixes and sevens, a Herald, a GT6, Spitfires, a V8 powered TR7 and a Spitfire Macau replica, which was driven there and back (Back being Somerset West).

Not that everything went off smoothly you understand. Things started poorly when our Chairman cut his wrist open while attempting to assemble the display boards. The night before that it was his son, GP who required surgery after his surfboard had attacked him and cut open his leg. Hmm, sounds like a case of " like son like father". David Frew had to spirit fire Gerhard off to hospital for stitches. On reflection when they returned they should have brought some Prozac for our Concourse organiser Gordon Waring who was, at times, showing signs of stress at trying to get Concourse things organised. That he managed so well without having a coronary is testament to his grit. Well-done Gordon. In fact well done to all who attended and to the amount of PT that was put into preparing the cars, which by and large, looked spectacular.

My personal "Car of the show"-and I have no idea of the points or results, which will be announced at the AGM-just has to be Roger Robeks immaculate TR2. The fact that it had to be towed home matters not. As ever, Timour Hall is a great event, with a huge variety of interesting, exotic, and exciting machinery on show. Even the three isolated afternoon showers that fell failed to put a damper on things.
