Back to Events Christmas function: 27th November.
What a brilliant idea having a spit braai. For once most people could just rock up, start socialising and leave the food preparation to somebody else. Not that everybody could relax. The ladies made a variety of puddings to supplement the main course and naturally the hall did not decorate itself. Once again the full force of the Vorster family came into play in converting our sombre clubhouse into a festive facility, complete with subtle lighting and mirror balls. But for Margaret having a prior engagement, we would have made the magical 50 people (there were in fact 49 present for those without calculators).
A new face at this event was young Kegan Sanderson, son of Ronan and Charmain. Dave (KZN Chairman) and Anne Blair also joined us for this event. Father Xmas hitched a ride in Tim's side screen and proceeded to distribute presents before having to depart. Having eaten, some proceeded to get drunk, start dancing and generally began behaving in a rather hedonistic fashion. Gerhard's younger daughter shocked the living daylights out of me with her shenanigans, but I have not had time to talk to him about it as yet. The elder daughter, from whom one would expect such behaviour, was, sadly, rather well behaved on the night. Despite all this, the evening was a roaring success, and I for one am looking forward to a repeat next year.
