Back to Events Killarney Track Day with the Alfa Romeo Club
Saturday 7th AugustLet's start at the beginning, where did this all start? Charles Murray died on a run with the Alfa club and they instituted this day in memory to him. It is in the form of "open day racing" at Killarney racetrack and held annually. They invited the Triumph and Subaru clubs to share the track with them.

It was another typical winter day in Cape Town with predictions of rain from time to time. It was overcast in Somerset West when GP and I left home at 08h00 that Saturday morning. We got to the track to find about 20 cars already scrutinised and lots more in the queue. In all there was in excess of forty cars, Alfas, Subarus, one Triumph TR7v8, one MG and one Ferrari.

With the drivers briefing concluded around ten, we took to the track, no rain at this stage, but wet track. It was quite slippery at times, but really fun. It was also good to see Richard Graham and later also David Frew at the track. I took Richard as passenger around the track for a few laps and we really enjoyed it. Can't do the same lap times as the Subaru's but then they are in a different class. The weather stayed overcast with spits and spots of rain from time to time, really good time to learn how to handle the v8 in the wet.
After having lots of fun, we left around lunchtime, so until next year, will have to keep to the speed limit!!!
