AGM - Saturday 29 th March 2003
Although breezy, the cloudy weather held off to allow us a sunny afternoon picnic, on the grass, under the trees at the clubhouse for our AGM. A total of 19 Triumphs and 3 saloon cars provided a really impressive display as they were all really nicely turned out. During the picnic much debate over Triumph issues ensued – a foregone (and pleasant) conclusion when such a large number of likeminded people meet. In case anyone ran out of stories they were kept busy judging the Triumphs present to list their nominees for the first 3 places in the new “car of the year award” or competing in the “club quiz”, which was a competition to see who knew the most about our club – very difficult for new members...............!
The business end of the meeting started promptly at 4:00pm and was completed on schedule at 5:00pm to allow everyone to drive home in daylight.

For winning the Graham Johnson timed rally and the club Gymkhana, being placed in the National Gymkhana and turning out at Killarney Track Day to support us when his car had broken down GIAN MANI.
DIPSTICK OF THE YEAR.
Previously won by Graham Johnson and Gian Mani but this year for consistent performances - GORDON WARING.
CAR OF THE YEAR.

4TH TR5 P. DU SAUTOY
3RD TR3 J. DAVIS
2ND TR6 A. ELLIS
1ST DEVIN TR3 MIKE NAPOLI
(Ed. Note: perhaps not only for its historical significance but as a tribute to the way the club handled the acquisition and the amazing amount of work that was put into the car to get it to its maiden run within 2 weeks of taking delivery).
DES RUDOLPH CHAIRMAN’S AWARD
At the Chairman’s sole discretion this important award was made jointly for the 1st time to two people who have attended every function including the Nationals and the weekend away. They have enthusiastically joined in all aspects of the club, contributed to newsletters and helped out at every occasion. They are the very backbone of the club - DENISE & GORDON WARING.
The Dip …..whatever award ???
Saturday 29 March 2003 was our annual gathering and AGM. Plenty of cars and plenty of people, although it would have been great to see more faces, regulars and not-so regular members. We started with a gathering on the lawns outside the clubhouse for a picnic. There is not one person or couple who can beat the style and fayre which Gian Mani always presents when it comes to food. It makes us all jealous. We then also go to the other extreme with Mike and Nerina who arrive in a Devin with a brown bag.
The AGM was precise and well conducted by Geoff and Jill Davis, and I for one am delighted they are standing again and appreciated all they have done last year. It was lovely to see the Triumph newsletters for the year on display, and in colour – they certainly look good and makes one realise how much effort goes into them. I reckon our newsletter must be one of the best in the country. Then came the fun part – the awards. I say this because, much to my surprise, Gordon and I won the Most Supportive Member Award.
Then of course there were other awards – Gian Mani won the Driver of the Year Award in his TR3A. I think it was something to do with that Rally we had in the Simonstown area, which I believe Gordon and I participated in, although I’m not sure it was the same function. After a lot of hard work and making it look really good Mike won Car of the Year Award for his Devin, and well deserved it was. Then there was this Dipstick Award given to Gordon, for a list of reasons, probably too long to list but here are a few, longest times, getting lost, carrying spares instead of clothes and hairdryer to George - just to mention a few. So therefore I’m not sure it is Dipstick but perhaps -----well what can I say, not too much as I was usually in the car as well. Good information given to me was that it was a chromed TR6 dipstick and you never know Gordon will perhaps let it join the rest of his spares, should another TR6 driver ever need a dipstick………
