Gymkana and Braai - 30th November 2002. 

A bright sunny, wind free day were perfect conditions for this event. The gymkhana started on the clubhouse parking area promptly at 3pm with 3 separate courses; 2 of which were for speed and 1, on grass, for skills only. For the few that took part it was great fun throwing our TR’s around the courses. Each course, negotiated once in forward and once in reverse, could be attempted 3 times with the best time only used to compute the results.

I say TR’s pointedly as there were no Spitfires, Heralds or even TR7’s!
The final results were:-
1 st Gian Mani TR3A 3 min 12 sec
2 nd Geoff Davis TR4A 3 min 22 sec
3 rd John Markland TR6 3 min 24 sec & Guy Du Sautoy TR5 3 min 24 sec

It was interesting to see that when saloon cars were used they were all far slower than the TR’s even with the same drivers. Guy Du Sautoy was the only driver to go all day without hitting anything or incurring “faults”; quite a handy trait as he is a pilot in the Air Force. Six extra people joined us for the braai and prize giving afterwards.
