Timour Hall - 27th Jan.

Every year we seem to get better! This year no fewer than 24 Triumphs turned out in perfect Cape sunshine to support this deserving Charity.

How's this for a line up:

An added attraction this year was the boxed Triumph model car display put together by "One Day" Sanderson. Well done Ronan! We were also pleased to welcome new member Gordon Waring, who has a very attractive American spec TR6. Other new members/cars on show included Andrew Frew in his Spitfire Mk IV and Monica du Sautoy behind the wheel of her (?) GT6. Also worthy of mention was Chris Schultz's desirable Lady in Red TR4A which made its first public outing since undergoing a "rolling rebuild" of her bodywork, Neil Cameron's racing Chicane, and, believe it or not, Dave Lugg who made a rare and welcome appearance with his Spitfire 1500.

Rob Mitchell, sans Triumph, was on hand to demonstrate and explain the Triumph website which he is currently constructing. Fellow computer bof Paul, no relation, Mitchell, who has been assisting Rob in this venture was able to demonstrate the "Demo" site on his laptop. Despite most people's lack of understanding (give me something mechanical) of the technicalities involved, all were suitably impressed by the demonstration and look forward to the day when the site is activated (correct word?). Well done guys.

Apart from that the show was much the same as last years except that many Marques, Sunbeam, Borgward and Porsche, to mention but a few, were conspicuous by their absence. The fact that there were at least three car events on at the same time (Killarney Carnival being a major drawcard for many) probably accounted for these losses. Pity about that, maybe next year there will be some form of agreement/compromise by the parties involved.
